I'm getting really tired of micro USB

Yet another cable has failed. Not completely, but enough to be annoying. On one, the tangs that keep it locked in place don’t work so it just falls out. On another two, they click on but don’t always make connection and they have to be jiggled and coerced into working. After plugging in my tablet overnight I found that the battery was at a lower state of charge than when I plugged it in. And these aren’t cheap cables. And don’t get me started on all the devices where the Micro USB connector has snapped off of the circuit board.

Lightning connections have never given me any trouble, but I know the future is USB-C. Mini USB never gave me any trouble either , and it was easier to tell which way to plug it in (although I prefer reversible connectors) . I can’t wait until micro USB disappears completely. Sure, it was a standard, which is a good thing,  just not a very good one.

Lifeproof case for my iPhone has micro USB, and I have to shift it around sometimes to get it to charge. Not the case, but the cord is the issue.

I also have devices that I’m never sure are charging. Frustrating.

This is why I only buy cheap cables...in fact, most of the time I just pull a spare generic cable out of the drawer where all the new spare cables go when some new piece of microUSB equipped is purchased.

I used to hate on usb c because it was annoying to not having anything BUT usb c on my macbook, but I totally love it as a connector. High power, high speed, chainable, positive lock, reversible, less likely to break.  its a good deal.

Same thing with the Mophie case on my iPhone. The case is cracked from a couple of drops, but it's the cable that's the issue, not the case.

The fact that those little clips are on the cable is one of the advantages of micro USB. With mini USB they were on the device which meant if they broke your device was basically done. With m icro USB, you replace a ubiquitous cable that costs a couple bucks.

With apple, it’s not the connectors but the cables themselves that are shit.  My wife wen through 3 of those mini-apple cords before her ipad bricked, I’ve never had a problem with micro usb.  Probably because we have like 15 of those cables.  Actually, I do have a problem, finding them, despite the fact that we have about 15 of them.  I don’t know where she puts them.

Take a se wing needle and carefully clean out your port. Sometimes there’ s impacted pocket lint in there and it keeps the charger from seating properly.

agree - just too small to be dependable over extended use...
